Materials and construction

Our cast iron pillar lanterns are made from solid, high-quality cast iron, hand-cast in the traditional way using sand moulds as has been done for centuries. The lantern and the post—everything is cast in iron, including small details such as the top finial and the base pin. The entire exterior lighting fixture is treated with anti-rust paint and then hand-painted in a matte black wet lacquer—specifically to achieve the authentic old-fashioned feel desired for these classic lamps. All our posts are delivered in three parts. The lantern has a lampholder with an E27 fitting, and LED bulbs are perfectly fine to use. The lamp post is CE marked.

Cast iron street lamp with various lantern heads

You can choose different lantern heads for our cast-iron lamp post. We have the round lantern heads made of copper and brass. These round lantern heads were very common at the beginning of the 20th century, around the turn of the century. The square and hexagonal lantern heads are classic and beautiful, and made entirely of solid cast iron. The glass is genuine and reflects the light from the lamp beautifully. We also have lantern heads cast in brass with a copper top, which are very elegant and stylish paired with the beautiful cast-iron post. Choose a lantern head to suit your taste; what all our light fittings have in common is that they are built to last, both in terms of material and style!
