A lamp made from high-quality materials
We have pendant lights in a classic stable lamp style that are cast in cast iron with an enamelled shade. True craftsmanship that creates products of unrivalled quality which last for years on end. The shade is available in black and white or in white with blue stripes. We also stock a copper shade.
We also offer pendant lights cast in aluminium, which are available with a chain and in the colours black and white. The black/white shade is always white on the underside to reflect the light in the best possible way.
Our pendant lights feature genuine glass to create a beautiful, old-fashioned feel and give an authentic, substantial impression.
Copper shade for pendant lights
We offer copper shades to complement our classic cast-iron range. The copper shade is untreated, which means it develops a beautiful patina over time and takes on a darker, greenish hue – a look that many people appreciate.
This is how the Kulturlampa is manufactured
Production takes place in moulds and is hand-cast, so the lamps are sturdy and attractive. The cast iron ones are slightly heavier as they are made of iron, whilst the aluminium lamps, which are cast in aluminium, are lighter, as aluminium is a lighter material. The styles of the two materials are similar; cast aluminium has a slightly more linear design, whilst the cast iron version features slightly more detail in the fittings. Both types of pendant lights boast a classic and timeless design.
The history of the pendant lamp
The classic cast-iron pendant lamps first appeared in the early 20th century, when electricity made its way into Swedish homes. Previously, kerosene or gas lamps had been common, but these were rather limited in their use. With the arrival of these new and modern electric lamps, it was now possible to light up the surroundings of one’s house and home. The reason they are called ”stable lamps” today is that they were often removed from the main dwellings when the houses were renovated. They usually remain in place on stables and outbuildings, which is where the name ‘stable lantern’ comes from.
